What is VPK? Who is eligible? How to register? and more
Dear Parents, • As you might all know, since 2005 the state of Florida offers a Voluntary Pre-kindergarten Program (VPK) and we are an approved provider. • Your child is eligible to benefit from this governmental plan and we would like to assure that you get a place in our program. We are giving an enrollment priority to all of you already registered at PWA by holding registrations for new children until April 1st • Registration must be done through early learning coalitions. See information below • VPK will start on August 23rd, 2010 • VPK OFFERS 540 instructional hours throughout 180 days. • We will follow Broward County school Calendar (only VPK) • The program won’t be delivered on public-schools days off. PWA will organize special activities for those days to facilitate your child’s care. • PWA Program will remain the same during the morning hours. Our Curriculum includes Literacy, Science, Numeracy, Information and Technology, Geography, History, Art, Drama, Music, Social Skills, Physical Education and Health. • During VPK hours, the program will be enriched with our variety of activities in the different developmental areas but with a stronger orientation to Early Literacy, Math and Science. The afternoon program will continue to be in connection to the morning curriculum. • VPK Program will be delivered during the afternoon from 1pm to 4pm every day from Monday to Friday. PWA has a VPK attendance policy in place. All children registered for VPK must attend consistently. ALL OTHER SCHOOL POLICIES REMAIN THE SAME! • VPK at PWA will be an excellent program that will help your child to be ready for school success, and in combination with our morning program will assure that your child will have the benefit of an extraordinary educational program and will have access to all celebrations, field trips, special activities like our wonderful assemblies and drama course, our Art curriculum in the mornings, the Music program and so many other fantastic things that are done during the day and guarantee that it is not just school but life that matters!
